Maddie sat in Cole’s car, on her phone, grateful that she had a spare set of keys but annoyed that he hadn’t shown, hadn’t even messaged. She knew his first day back was going to be heavier than hers but still, that didn’t mean she liked waiting around like a numpty.

“You look happy.” Cole said as he opened the door and got in.

“I’ve been sat here for more than an hour.” She grumbled.

“I got held up, some stuff is going off that needs my attention.” He said pushing the button to start the engine and slowly started reversing out of the space.

“And does your wife not need your attention either?” She said smirking so he could see she wasn’t so annoyed, she wasn’t going to ruin their evening about it.

“Feeling needy are we?” He murmured and she nodded. “How was your day?”

“Long.” She said. “Got some potential leads on the project but Brandon’s been a shit. I threw a pack of biscuits at his head so no doubt you’ll hear about that from someone.”

“Did you mouth off to the entire office again?” He said and she rolled her eyes.

“He’s enjoying winding me up.” She stated.

“Of course he is. This is Brandon.”

“I didn’t realise you two were so alike.”

“In what way?” He said glancing at her.

“Being an arsehole.” Maddie stated.

He laughed. “Oh he is, just not as much as me.”

“No, at least he lets people know when he’s running late.” She said.

“Are you going to hold that against me all evening?” He replied.

“Maybe.”

“Then things will certainly get interesting.”

“In what way?” She asked looking at him more curiously.

“I thought, seeing as you’ve had a long first day you might want to work out some tension.”

“You mean play? Properly?” She said. He hadn’t gone near her with so much as tie since her whole subdrop thing. She could feel her heart starting to race. Just a little, just a teeny tiny bit.

“Would you like that Maddie?” He asked already knowing the answer from the way her body reacted.

“Yes.” She said before he’d barely got his question out.

“You are keen. I hope you don’t go too wild with the whips…”

She frowned. “Do you mean…?”

“Yes.” He said as her jaw dropped. “But we’re changing the rules slightly.”

“How?” She asked.

“No set safeword, instead we do colours.”

“Colours?”

“Green is go. Yellow means you’re uncomfortable or unsure….” He explained.

“Red is stop.” She said.

“Yes. It’ll be the same for both of us.”

“So when you say green I spank your arse?” She teased.

“You’re enjoying this too much already.” He murmured.

“Just wait till I have you bent over then Cole.” She said as he snorted.
